Preview vs the real thing

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 19, 2009, 1:38 AM
I felt like I had to get that thing off of my page. I realised that even if their whole gallery is deleted, they won't be banned. I don't understand that, but... anyways. They will just make a new account and continue all the stealing. I think banned people shouldn't be able to make new accounts again. (but if art thieves won't even get banned D:< )

So, a happier topic, I was wondering if anyone else felt it before, that they liked the trailer of the film much much more than the actual movie xD I guess that means being disappointed in the movie itself ','

I really like watching amvs, and I love well-made trailers a lot too. First time I had this feeling was when I saw the Watchmen trailer a lot in the cinema, and gosh, I was so excited for it, and I'm still in love with it, I don't remember waiting for a movie so much before. Dang, that trailer is so well made that I could watch it for hours! I love the song too! *o*

And then, came the day when the movie was released. I liked it and all, because I'm a sucker for movie adaptations of comics, but somehow, I feel like the trailer was much better :(

After that, the trailer for Harry Potter 6 came out too. I was sooooo looking forward to it, I would even say I went to the cinema only to see that trailer xD (ok, well, not really, but it really was awesome), and when I saw the movie itself, well, it wasn't bad or anything... but still not what I was looking forward to. :| though it may be because I didn't read the book :( I read each of the books up to the fifth, then, for some reason, I stopped, even though I have all the books T-T

And maybe it was the same with Transformers 2, but that was a cool movie too. Somehow, I feel that trailers often make the film look better than how they really are. That must be because they choose all the awesome scenes from the movie, and then if they manage to choose a very nice song, then even the crappiest movie can have a great and interesting trailer.

Same with amvs, sometimes, a simple amv is much more interesting than the anime itself '-' though, I must admit that many times, the amvs are what make me look into the anime, and I don't always regret it. For example, Akira or Naruto, they both are animes that I started watching because there was an amv that really caught my attention, and made me interested.
(well, Akira didn't required that much watching, if you know what I mean, but I did stopped with Naruto, for certain reasons. But it was good while it lasted ^^ )

There's an other category, that I think might belongs here, is the anime vs. manga. Sometimes, animes are only made as a preview of the manga, to get more readers. Those animes usually doesn't end the story, series like Fruits Basket, or Elfen Lied, Ouran HSC... I loved those animes, but when I looked into their manga version... well, they weren't as nice (for me) as the animes.
Most of the time, mangas are much much better than the anime, but these cliff-hanger animes seem to be better than the manga itself. Of course I can't say that's a fact, because I don't know that many series like that, but the ones I've seen so far are like that.

What do you think? ^^' Have you been disappointed of a movie because it wasn't like what you expected it to be? (I'm sure most of us have been, though ;;; )

*Edit* Red version is easier for me to read TAT

yeah, a few days ago i watched um anime amv and i taught it's a great anime, but after i watch it..
ugh heart broke...
:iconchiisana-chan:
Yeah, some benefits from being specialised in literature (and english), we had to write long long essays back in the day T-T

And um, I don't really get what you mean by them making remakes, I didn't say that anything I mentioned above were bad, in fact, I loved all those movies, but somehow, I like their trailer even more.

:iconchiisana-chan:
Oh, about that *o* yes, you're right, it can't be stopped, sadly, no one will watch over them, so they can easily make a new account :(
Even I can't bother about them anymore.

GHonestly: THat movie-thing is always the same xD In 90% of the cases the trailer is better than the movie cause they use the best scenes only for them :D

Usually I prefer a manga over animes as well... just because I enjoy the art so much I guess but sometimes it bugs me that I get the feeling a manga is drawn only to make an anime out of it to gain more profit and that really sucks... -_-; Rushed mangas are awful, but then again there are people who love them, so I won't complain and just won't buy them =P

Do you know X/1999? The anime and the manga? It was fun watching /reading them, but because the anime was released faster than the rest of the manga Clamp decided to stop the manga and work on something else ;.; That sucked so badly, I loved that Manga!!

Aaaanyway, I think I'm going off topic here xD

Have a nice weekend~

yeah, but sometime amv can deceive us..
like, i watch anime amv, the boys all of then are hunk, and so when i watch the anime, *bahhh
full of ecchi, and other things...
but when i read the description in the amv it doesn't say anything about that kind of .....
=_=;
:iconchiisana-chan:
Ahah, yes, they really know how to get our attention xD I guess the only way to avoid that is to watch the movie first, and then check out its trailer :'D

In most cases, the mangas really are better (it's almost like that with everything, books are usually better than movies, and so on), the one that came first are a bit more enjoyable, and they have more detail too. I can only come up with one exception, that be Battle Royale, where I actually enjoyed the manga much more than the book. The book was nice too, but not as good as the manga.

I'm not really sure how they decide to draw those mangas, but the manga of Elfen Lied is... well, it doesn't match the quality of the anime. Most of the time, the problem is with the art, well, sadly, I often judge upon the art, though I have grown out of it mostly, but I can't understand how Natsuki Takaya's art(Fruits Basket manga) didn't improve at all throughout the story. Seriously, that manga has more than a hundred chapters, but the art isn't better. :( and I got used to the pretty anime version. Same for the other two I mentioned.
And besides these, the anime has the crappier art most of the time.

I'm not too fond of Clamp, so I don't know most of their works, but it's very sad to stop the manga just because the anime is running too D: most of the time, when animes are more forward in the story, they have different endings. Like how it was with Fullmoon. The anime finished sooner than the manga itself, and they have completely different endings. So Clamp could have finished X/1999 too :(

Thank you so much, have a great weekend too !! ^3^ :cuddle:
